THE ARTIST
Penny Pepin was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and now makes her home on the south arm of Lake Charlevoix and Naples, Florida. Now that all three of her children are grown and away from home, Penny spends more time pursuing her passion of painting.
Penny is inspired by the landscape and wildflowers of Northern Michigan and the more tropical and exotic plants indigenous to southernmost Florida. She also has captured the local flavors of small Caribbean islands and the European countrysides she has visited.
Penny has studied under many accomplished artists over the years, such as Cheng-Khee Chee, Helga Flower, Gerald Brommer, and many local artists including Pat Tinney, Catherine Carey, Doug Melvin, and Jan Glass. She continues to participate in workshops, which introduce new and exciting techniques, some of which she has incorporated into her own style. The winter months are spent teaching watercolor classes in Naples, which proves to be challenging and enjoyable.
You can find Penny's watercolors in many private collections throughout the United States and Canada. She is a member of the Crooked Tree and Jordan River Arts Councils as well as the Art League of Bonita Springs. Besides exhibiting in the art centers, Penny has had successful show in her home studio - Sunset Summit Art Gallery.
